I can't answer for him, but I can guess based on my dome....
My dome was getting brittle after only a couple years...and the inside shower plastic was starting to yellow.
plus I was always just a little concerned about hail or falling branches and such.

So when I was getting my roof done by rvroof.com, they offered to overspray the dome and I took them up on it. Actually I went ahead and bout a new lower profile dome and replaced it before they sprayed. Their coating completely covered it, blocking all the sun and really helping to keep the RV much cooler.....+ a person could stand on the dome, not that I do, but they had a demo that proved it... anyway, I have never regretted it.
