A power surge will overload the inverter causing a hard shut down and the E05 fault. It will not pass any 120 volt power in this state. You should try a completer restart before assuming the inverter is dead. This restart requires you remove all 12 volt and 120 volt power from the inverter for at least 1 hour (I recommend 12 hours to ensure the capacitors have plenty of time to completely discharge). You can do this by tripping the 120 volt circuit breaker to the inverter in the power center and tripping the 150 amp 12 volt circuit breaker in the house battery compartment. If this is done, the remote display will be dark and unresponsive to any buttons pushed on the remote. That should be sufficient to force the inverter to do a complete restart. Reset the battery CB first then add 120 volt power. Hopefully the inverter will work as before.
