It is one of the first things I do on all the RV's I have had is install Eternabond tape on the front and rear joints. I have never removed the lap sealant though and no leaks at those two joints, but have other places oh yeah. I do clean the lap sealant with paint thinner followed up with alcohol or other non residue solvent and let dry before installation of tape.
