I don"t know about other coaches but on mine it is routed the same way and I have the same problem (code indicating short). I found out that if i don't extend the slide out all the way I don't get the problem.

I intend to fix it the same way you indicated. Go thru the floor and route it under the slide to the controller in the storage compartment. I intend to cut the cable and splice it again eliminating the bad section under the slide. They left plenty of spare cable at the controller.
