I’ve got T/H on my RV. We just drove from Texas to WV. Didn’t engage it as we didn’t know what it is / does.
On downgrades, depressing the brake caused a downshift. Giving it some gas at the end caused the tranny to upshift.
At the end of our trip we hit a 10 degree grade for 3 miles. I used the brakes (and the auto downshift) but half way down the brakes were screaming. We pulled over and let them rest for a few. The smell was bad. I’m hoping that we didn’t damage the brakes.
When I got home, going down my short driveway they made a quieter noise but still a noise when applying.
Would engaging T/H have prevented my brakes from overheating?
Wouldn’t this red line my engine?

Yes, you only have to use the brakes briefly but firmly, maybe 3 times in 3 miles.

The V10 is a high rpm motor, it won't hurt it.
