Amazing how many uses there is for it. I've been a boater all my life. I tie a 2' long double strand to an area of the boat near the helm...antenna, bow rail...anywhere you can see it but above the structure. When docking it's an excellent gauge of wind speed and direction. It helps anchoring directly over a wreck also. It lasts forever due to the wax coating. For years people ask..."what's this?". I've even had a few pull it off and let me know I had a piece of debris stuck to the boat. I just say "thanks".
