The Yi Ultra plugs in the dash--it does have a small battery (which it recharges automatically) but its primary power source is from a USB cable. The small battery is so that it can do an orderly shutdown once power is removed (its all automatic, once you set it up you just leave it there and it comes on with the ignition and goes off shortly after the ignition is shut off).
Unless you're like me and save all the recordings from the RV trip (need A LOT of storage at home for that LOL).
