The solar controller can measure the volts but it is not going measure current draw on the batteries. It will only monitor the current from the solar panels charging the batteries.... once you have them installed.
I don't know what type of rig you have but you could consider a Progressive Dynamics Converter / Charger. Many models are less than $250 and it has 4 charging modes to protect the batteries.
