I think you've basically restated my question, or at least helped me to ask it another way. It's safe to assume we all want the most qualified people doing the repairs or mod and if the dealer isn't that party, let's find someone that is, but the question remains.

Is it better to seek out these relationships on your own and deal with the oddball warranty claims as the owner, or has your experience been that it is better to let/make the dealer handle those relationships for one stop shopping and hopefully less problematic warranty documentation? What has YOUR experience been?
