I totally agree about the uncomfortable jackknife sofa.
I replaced mine with RecPro theater-style recliners with the added center section. They fit the 68" space perfectly, but will extend 3" more into your aisle space. Not sure if you will have the space for the footrests when reclined. Rec Pro has all of the measurements on their website. Mine are on a slideout so room was not a problem.
They are decently made recliners and very comfortable. You will need a 22" door space to get them in and it is an easy install. The sofa comes out in numerous pieces.
