Gorilla Tape...best stuff in the world. Available in different colors but the area you speak of is pretty much out of sight anyway. Whatever you use, make sure it stays pliable. I've never used Flex-Crap products but their tape would probably work well also. I used Gorilla Tape to seal a few rips on a Jeep Bestop top and it was still doing it's job a year later with no issues. Eventually replaced top and sold Jeep.
