Our Jackknife couch is horribly uncomfortable. We'd love to replace it but the couch sits over the outside storage which takes up about half the space under the couch. Are there alternatives for replacing crap like this?

If I can't replace it, any suggestions for making it more comfortable?

Could you adapt one of these? I have one in a spare room and love it. You could use / not use the drawers as needed and just glue the drawer fronts onto the frame.
