This leaves a net opening that will fit the pvc cap snug. I then used black abs pipe glue to bond the cap to the holder and paint the white cap inside with satin black.
The result is a holder that cups or bottles fit perfectly and you can't tell it's not stock (except that it works!)
The 3" black abs caps are too thick so the OD is larger than you can open the stock cup holder base to fit, nor will it fit in the factory opening.
