Yep we installed the vents with dampers and when it is way cold below 30 degrees we use the furnace or to simply warm the whole up in the morning. But I gotta say that the electric fireplace does great most times and just to be sure our grandkids are a kept toasty warm we bought a small Walmart space heater (cost about $10). The little heater stores easily in the basement.

Just our thought when we are connected to 50 amp service much cheaper than running our LP.
