I have used Reserve America a few times to reserve a campground in my wife's hometown in Northern Minnesota. The campground only takes reservations from RA. I just made one early February for mid-July.
Never had any problems with RA, but then being a former IT guru, I always scroll to the bottom and look for those "automatically checked" options for stuff that I don't want/need.
IMO, I would have called the credit card company and disputed the charges. Mine takes disputed charges off immediately and follows up with the source of the charge.
