It tells you that 12 volts is present. Not on or off. Not 120 volts. Not Generator.

Turn off the converter or inverter/charger and turn on an interior light. It is 12 volts. Now go try the switch. You will soon know which is connected and which is disconnected. Once you figure it out mark the switch
