If so, 240V could be sent from the TS and through the rig frying a lot of electronic equipment. The EMS would prevent that from ever happening.

If the EMS is placed after the transfer switch, the coach electronics are fully protected from any potential power input issues.
50 amp rigs ARE 240 volts.
