I agree this sounds like the automatic generator start system is operating. If you can find the manual for your electrical monitoring system it should have a section on how to disable. I turned mine off and do fine without it. If I am not on shore power I periodically check my voltage reading and turn it on when I am approaching 12.0-12.1 volts. Works fine for me.
