A Question For The Solar Experts

No: i haven't pulled the trigger on a system yet!
But I DO have a 20 watt panel that I use to keep the chassis battery happy.
Here's my scenario.
I have the panel simply set on the ground up by the right front tire.
In that position: I'm lucky to get five good hours of exposure to the Sun in a given day.
I could extend the wires, and place it at the right rear corner of the RV. If I do that: I'd be able to expose it to the Sun from sunrise to sunset...

My question: If I do this: would losses in the extended wiring offset the gain in soaked-up solar power?
