I do both: I have a Sunguard RV cover (similar to Magneshade without the magnets) and use the foil on the inside.
Foil on the inside is used in storage and outside cover is used when camping.
When camping I like the idea that the light doesn't have to pass through the window twice. With the cover on the outside the light is stopped on the outside not allowing it to heat the window or anything on the inside.
