Once you get experienced in 'unhooking' quickly, you can simply do it in front of the site, since you'll be stopping past it to then back in anyway(or, if it's a pull thru site, no worries, don't even unhook!)...

until then, you might feel better doing it right after checkin, right where you are already parked, if no one is being held up behind you... then just drive you car to a close by spot to park it until you can walk back and retrieve it after you've parked the rig in the site.

a few parks have somewhat 'designated' un-hook parking areas, but most don't and it's just up to you as to 'where' you do it, unless someone gives you specific directions.
