Owners were lubricating in-wall slides with everything but the recommended dry spay (CRC with PTFE). Lippert decided rather than trying to educate the great masses familiar with previous In-Floor hydraulic and cable slides with their required waxy grease; no lubrication is better than the wrong lubrication. Any dirt in the grease or oil will increase the wear on the tracks and gears. Actually the heavy wear points are the guide blocks, especially the upper bearing blocks and V rollers and not the tracks themselves.
