But they only fill it 80%

That's 2+g more than an external 20lb tank (4.73). If you're a large consumer of propane and have a way to move it around, consider 2-30lb tanks.

I installed an Extend-a-Stay. I use on-board for traveling and a 20lb'r for extended stays.

I boondock a lot more lately. I'm trying to learn something unrelated. I can assure you the extend-a-stay method works for me. I fill my tanks after every boondock experience. I used it for 10 days and the last pull was 2.2g from both tanks.

I'm not sure what, if anything is going on. Everything functions as I think it should. If those are expected results, I'm floored.

I don't know your capacity situation. If you share that, we might be in a better position to help.
