Progressive recommends the hard wired version of their EMS be installed before the transfer switch. This is in-order to protect the transfer switch. The problem with this is you cannot monitor the generator output. Several have moved the wire coils (they measure amperage and frequency) to the output side of the transfer switch. Mine is installed between transfer switch and the power center. The choice is yours in where you wire the EMS.
