After using 5+ years I finally boiled something over & had to take that stove top all apart to clean, icky job. Maybe I don't understand the term about caulking but I wouldn't want to seal up & not be able to get under the burners to clean. I just put enough weight on top to hold the shaking down. Good luck.
Really, no metal detector, Bob? Wasn't sure about the name but yours sounded familiar.
