Thanks, abjbrtd, whoever you are-- the video link you sent me held the key to a successful outcome (I think-- I'll wait until later to see if the fridge stays lit). I never would have thought the small amount of rust in the burner tube would put out the flame.
Whenever I'm able to solve a mechanical problem I feel I own a little bit more of the machine and understand more about its workings.
Whether I'm fixing one of my airhead BMW bikes or my RV I am beholden to those who had trod the road before and freely offer their experience and wisdom.
It takes a village and we have it.
