Not true on a
parallel configuration unless you isolate each battery.
Ohms Law has not been disproven so far.
A hydrometer will test each wet cell no mater what.
As for "giving it a try" I way a Navy electronics technician for 13 years then an electrical engineer for 35 years. Ive used a VOM quite a few times.
