As for the thinking that the insurance company just doesn’t want to pay the high amount, that hasn’t been my experience with them. In fact, when our residential refrigerator needed a new compressor the insurance gladly paid over twice as much to fix it than it would have cost to replace it. I didn’t take it to CW for them to try and fix it. I called Sears Service and they provided the Insurance Company with the estimate over the phone and then authorized it. I sent all the paperwork over email and it was reimbursed in a couple weeks. More recently my RV Storage fixed our entry step. They contacted Assurian and took care of everything for us. I just had to pay $100. deductible.
