I have used UV lamps for water final treatment for years. They do have to be replaced eventually but they actually decay over time and or hours used. So given the way you use it I would think in the RV world they would last a very long time

At the ranch we had nasty alluvial water so used the UV and a flow switch that turned the lamp on and off when the well pushed water into the pressure tank
