Drop down

We have a 2016 Hurricane 34J and just had our 2015 Fiesta set up for towing, tow bar, light and brakes. Today I hooked it up to the camper and there is a lot of difference between the car and the camper hitch. It's 22 inches to the center of the receiver and 14 inches to the center of the bar where the tow bar connects to the car. I am thinking to stay within the +- 3 inches of center I need an 8" drop down. It seems like a lot, but the front of the car is low to the ground. Does anyone use a drop down that low? I could probably get away with a 6" but would rather have it centered.
