It appears you've got some sort of surge protector going to your car, but not the rv??
With all the electronic equipment on RVs these days a good surge protector/EMS, hardwired or portable, should mandatory every time/everywhere you plug in the rv. They are bit pricey but so is replacing air conditioners, microwave, tvs, etc., I know ours has saved us on at least 2 occasions.
