My question - is there any problem with using an in line LP gauge attached to the tank and having it filled through the gauge. That way, the person filling it (and me) would have a better idea if the tank was really filled. I would have to attach and remove the gauge every time I filled the tank, but that is not much of an issue.

The person filling it doesn’t need a gauge...
They fill it until it reaches the relief valve they opened.
The tanks only get filled to 80%.
