Just look for an older model! Good ones are out there. Or get and older Jeep Wrangler. They aren’t as light at 4,000 - 4500lbs but they sure are fun and stone simple to tow. You can leave the transmission in park. Just put the transfer case in neutral and leave the steering column unlocked.
