Well, we're about to find out. We're hitting the road tomorrow for a 2 week cruise down south (prolonging the start of the season change in the great white north.)
We have 5 HH stops planned on our trip. I waited until nearly departure time to sign up with HH. First made some reservations @ state parks and COE sites that appealed to us. In some locations the state parks were fully reserved or closed for the season, so I joined and started looking at HH options. Found 5 that were directly on our route - 2 museums, a farm market and agritourism farm (we're also farmers, so we've already had a few friendly back and forth emails with these folks), a winery and a distillery.
So far I have encountered very friendly folks on the phone and look forward to meeting them. The museums were places we were hoping to stop at anyhow, so double bonus there.
We're really looking forward to the trip and the variety of stops.
Although HH kind of tries to catch your interest with "free camping" it's not really free. At first I thought that was a bit of a disingenuous come-on, but when you consider you get entertainment (museums) or a nights cocktail hour or meal by patronizing the business, it has changed my mind and might actually be a pretty good deal. We shall see.
A night a Wally World in not at all our idea of fun and CB, maybe barely, so we're ready to give HH a try. Will report back.
