I have had both the one I had to connect at both ends and now a hardwired one. The good thing about the one I had to connect at both ends allowed me to store the cord in any storage compartment. The hardwired one has to go in the same compartment and runs through a hole in the bottom of the compartment to the shore power post. I have "stuff" on top of the hardwired cord to utilize the compartment which is not always the best thing to do. To me it doesn't matter which one I have once I got used to it. The advantage of attaching both ends and not hardwired means you can easily replace the cord in the event it becomes damaged versus having to disconnect/reconnect a replacement hardwired cord.
