Does the slide extend an equal distance on the top and bottom or is the bottom extended further than the top?
The seal should be against the wall to seal out the weather. Looks like there would be a considerable air gap. If there is a gap I wouldn't turn on too many lights at night or you might be invaded by bugs. In the rain or snow you could also have water intrusion leading to mold and that I would consider a major issue (easy fix but major issue).
