Snowbirding

We snowbirded in a motor home for about 7 years. We started off in a 1995 32 foot Tiffin Allegro Bus with no slides and finished in a 1998 36 foot Allegro with a single living room slide.

As a warm weather winter home both coaches worked well, although when we switched to the 1998 Allegro the extra length and the slide made a huge difference. The Tiffin quality also made a big difference. We were very comfortable in both coaches, had a reasonable amount of basement storage and interior cabinets and the creature comforts that made spending four to five months in what is really a small confined space comfortable.

We spent three years in the Ft. Myers area, one winter in Benson, AZ and another in Harlingen, TX. We ended up in Sebring, central Florida. We liked the area so well that we bought a park model and spent 10 winters there. We sold the motor home when we bought the park model, but after 10 years we got itchy feet and decided to buy a small Class C, purely for the purpose of traveling.

We first bought a 23 foot Tioga, but it didn’t have a real bed and that didn’t work for us. I ran across a Vegas and we ended up buying our 2016 24.2, which has proved to be a great traveling rig. It’s small enough to that we haven’t had issues getting in and out of anywhere but large enough that we are comfortable with a small dog and a cat as well as the two of us.
