Here is what I did when I considered solar and wanted it as a option but not fully bought-in. We typically use traditional hookups or run the generator.
Not long ago we drove the Vegas to Lake Tahoe and stayed in a hotel rather than the Vegas. We wanted to keep the fridge running as we had food and beverages in there so propane and battery did the work. I had to run the generator from time to time to keep the batteries charged as we had no access to power at the hotel. A solar option for us would have been nice.
Our 2019 Vegas is solar ready, simply needed a panel. Not wanting the full time solar option as I did not want to attach anything to the roof, I went this route...
A foldable 100w solar panel which I can use in situations like our Lake Tahoe trip or if we are out in an area with no access to power. I have considered possibly getting some 20' or 30' cables to offer some mobility of the solar panel should the situation require bit for now I simply climb the ladder, unfold the 100w solar panel and plug it into the solar connectors on the roof. Pretty simple and relatively cheap as only cost (other than cost of the Vegas) has been the panel.
Living in the PNW solar isn't typically a leading topic as it rains and is overcast 9 months out of the year (not really, but close) but an reasonable option at times for sure.
