I'm reading this as you don't want the step to extend even when the door is opened...

There is no switch to keep the step in regardless of door position. They will always extend when door is opened for safety. (I'm sure someone would sue them for falling out the RV if they provided such a switch.)

You would need to install a switch - or pull a fuse/disconnect a wire to override the behavior. I've considered doing this before - as parking on street the step can easily hit the curb when extending.
