The only thing regarding Diesel versus gasoline that is consistent seems to be the signage
Red is gasoline
Green is Diesel
Most pumps with multiple nozzles are green
If you're at a truck stop in the truck lanes with the large fill nozzles don't expect them to be green
There are always going to be the few distracted ones that put gasoline into Diesel tanks and quickly regret it
Some even put DEF in Diesel which also keeps mechanics employed
There is no such thing as commercial B30
I have used B15 for nearly 30 years with no issues
Bio Diesel has or contributes additional lubricity which the ULSD is lacking and why major refiners use additives
We have had Farm off road Red Diesel since it first appeared
Same fuel as #2 only dyed red
Ethanol and bio Diesel both have less BTU so of course get less energy and reduced milage
The only issue with bio Diesel is it is slightly prone to moisture and shelf life
Typically you should treat it annually if storage is long term
Anyone driving a Diesel pays attention to the fuel water separator and of course all newer equipment have water sensors and alarms
You cannot buy Diesel that isn't ULSD at the pump
