The nut has been known to back off.
Best case is the wiper quite moving and you get the timing right on the splines, tighten that nut and proceed
Worst case it it loosens, strips the splines and won't work again until you replace the mechanism with parts you have to order.

Good suggestion! I was going to replace all the parts with the kit. I cant tell if the kit has a nut w the nylon lock but i have various nylon nuts that I can use. I agree something that moves like a wiper should have a nylon nut or at least locktite.
