Your inverter should not be inverting if you are plugged into SP. And it can easily overload if the SP connection is intermittent and the inverter's Automatic Transfer Switch has problems.
Too many unknowns to diagnose over the web:
Do you have good dog bones?
Do you have a surge protector?
Do you have a power management system?
Does your inverter have an integrated charger or do you have a converter?
