Not sure where you are headed but something I have started doing lately is renting a car once I get to my location. Depending on the area Enterprise rental will pick you up at the campground and then take you back when you return the car.
This option isn't for everyone and doesn't work for all trips but I've been doing it for about a year and a half and for me it works well. I will tell you, however, my daughter is a risk manager for Enterprise so I do get a family discount. For me a one week rental runs about 100.00 to include all insurance coverage.
