Not sure what Converter you have but some have a fan that is off / on and some have a variable speed fan. In any case, the fan is going to run anytime that Converter is under load and generating heat (especially if the ambient temps in the coach are relatively warm). This will be when charging the batteries or running 12V applicances in the coach.
I upgraded my Converter to a Progresive Dynamics and this is how my fan works:
An electronic sensor monitors converter temperature. Higher demand generates higher heat, requiring higher fan speeds. Lower demand means lower heat
and fan speed. This means the fan may not operate at night or will operate at a very slow, quiet speed.
