I'm sure the 2013 model outside tv mount is no different than my 2014 - yes, it is not 'intuitive' as to how it is mounted, but it is simply mounted on a flat piece of square metal slightly larger than the tv itself. The four screws are removed at the corners of this metal 'mount', and then the tv and mounted metal backing are then 'lifted' off.

There are no 'paddles'. There is no 'articulating' mount. It is simply flat-mounted to the tv's cabinet cavity, with a slight ridge on the back of the tv's mount that fits down onto the cabinet's ridge, to hold it in place while you screw/unscrew the mounting screws.
