Just for information - there is actually a float gauge inside the tank with a moving magnet. The gauge on the side or end of the tank also has a magnet of opposite pole (they are attracted to each other). The gauge on the outside of the tank also contains a variable resister than powers the gauges inside the coach. Your coach is setup to work on gaseous propane, but the tank is filled with pressurized liquid propane known as LPG. There needs to be a phase change surface in the tank to convert the liquid propane to a gas. Thus a need for a max fill of only 80% of the capacity of the vessel.
