Those latches are plastic and plastic breaks especially if not used correctly. They need to be adjusted so that the hook portion smoothly contacts and pushes in the latch portion. When opening, the push portion should pull out the latch section. enough that it stays there, doesn't flop back in. The latches should be adjusted, maybe shimming necessary, so when opening or closing. the correct parts of the latch make contact. They are not "slam latches" as that breaks them.
My 2007 Itasca Horizon had several of them on various drawers and they were functioning fine last year when I traded it in. A heavy pots/pans drawer needed supplemental hooks to stay closed while traveling.
