Steens Wilderness- Oregon
We just spent time in this spectacular location with the grandkids. Herds of wild mustangs, antelope and other wildlife. Dark sky country and with the meteor shower it does not get better. Massive mountain gorge driving a loop road at 9700 feet. If you have a Jeep toad it is perfect. Now the catch:
last 2 miles of the drive to the RV park is on washboard gravel. 5-8 MPH was all we dared go. Bring mosquito repellent , killer, anything you can think of as they fly in formation. With that it is well worth the journey.
