I went back in my memory bank and remembered the manual awnings I had the outer vertical section slipped over a "hook" portion to keep it in place. That left it vulnerable to being bounced out of position going down the road and unrolling. As I recall it was recommended to drill a small hole through the outer and inner sections and put in a "C" type clip to prevent that. Maybe they still do that but I also recall seeing a latching lever on some. Please forgive my failing memory banks.

I was "homeless/rvless" for a number of years in that time frame so changes likely to happened to awnings. Things like power.
