There was barely enough room on the shoulder for passing vehicles without me driving into the ditch . No way to drag the awning to the next offramp without hitting some more signs.

No worries...it'd be very difficult to get the tube into the coach and I am sure it wasn't that messy. Someone probably picked it up for scrap. Some people just want to gripe. I bet it was a stressful situation.
